Pozole and Goodbyes

Tomorrow we will celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary!  Woo hoo!  Last year, on our first anniversary, we decided to start a tradition.  We like making all sorts of traditions.  Well, the tradition was that I would surprise Adam with picking some local restaurant we had never eaten at before, and we would also go see a movie.  Last year we went to a place called Crescent City which had lots of good local sea food.  This year I picked a little Mexican place called Mama Alma's, and we also saw The Hobbit.  Well, I did good!  Adam has always talked about a hominy soup that he loved while in Mexico, but that he has never found it at any restaurants here in the states.  Well, this place had it!  He loved it!  The food was very delicious and Adam says very authentic as well!

We also said goodbye to one of our really good friends.  His name is Bryan.  He came here accepted into the polymer science masters/PhD program with all his tuition paid on a research graduate assistantship.  He is pretty smart to say the least.  While he was here he decided that he wasn't doing what he was supposed to be doing and left the program to go on a mission.  He is going to be a great missionary, but we will miss him and admire him for the decision he made!

Out with the old...

We finally got to move!  We were quickly out growing our little 1 bedroom apartment with all the fun new baby gear we were accumulating.  We were getting pretty creative with our storage.  A picture is worth 1,000 words, so...

Exhibit A: Our tiny storage closet filled with baby things and cleaning supplies.

Exhibit B: All the baby lotions, shampoos, and some wipes stored in a little book shelf.

Exhibit C: The changing table acting as a book shelf/baby stuff shelf/spot for anything that didn't have any other place.

Exhibit D: Adam's shoes stored in the car seat bases under the bed.

We were glad to move somewhere a little bigger where we could have a place to put everything!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving was a wonderful holiday!  We spent it in Tupelo with Adam's family.  One of his brothers was there with his family as well as his sister and her family.  It was fun to be around the kids and watch them run and play together.  They always have so much fun when they are together!

After dinner, when all of our tummies were so full we decided to go on a little walk and enjoy the fall leaves!

Hope everyone had as much fun over Thanksgiving break as we did!

Birthday!

This past week we celebrated my birthday!  I had such a fun birthday!  For a few weeks now I have been mentioning that I wanted to put up a Christmas tree.  Last year we borrowed a mini tree from one of our friends, but I wanted a bigger one and one of our own.  A few days before my birthday Adam went out and bought a tree and set it up while I was at work.  I came home to a beautiful tree and two beautiful ornaments that I had said I liked.  It's a little early for Christmas, but I love seeing the tree every day!

Also for my birthday he framed a copy of my Grandma's funeral program.  I'd had it sitting on the shelf so I could see it, but he bought a nice frame and put it up on the wall.  A very sweet gift!

At school they had a party for me as well!  They got me this nice cake and sang happy birthday to me. We had a fun time!

Also, on my birthday, the girls in Adam's program threw us a surprise baby shower!  They wanted it to be a surprise for both of us, but finally decided to let me in on the planning.  They just happened to plan it for the night of my birthday.  Using my birthday as a decoy worked out well!  I told Adam I just wanted to go out to eat, but when we showed up at the restaurant nearly everyone in his program was there.  He was pretty surprised!  They were very sweet and bought our dinner and got us some very nice gifts.

Also, this was my last week of work!  No pictures to prove it, but now all I have to do is get ready for this baby to make its big debut!

Just waiting on the baby...

I have a very hard working husband who was chosen as a student ambassador for the college of health.  This week Adam went to one of the local high schools for a college fair and talked to high school students about the college of health and the speech pathology program.  He had a good time and looked nice too!

I stayed home, but Adam felt lonely taking a picture all by himself.

Also, this weekend was filled with all sorts of baby prep.  We attended a birth class at the hospital and some good friends threw me a baby shower!  I have some very sweet friends that did a great job of putting everything together.  The decorations were adorable, the food was delicious, and the company was wonderful!  I couldn't have asked for a better shower.

And of course, I got lots of wonderful gifts!

But now we just need to find space for all our new goodies in our tiny little apartment!  It seems we've got everything we need except the baby.  Just 6 more weeks!

Baton Rouge

Something we try to do every month is go to the temple.  We have really come to love the Baton Rouge temple and always look forward to going.  Yesterday we were able to make a trip to Baton Rouge and go to the temple.  I especially liked the nice cool weather yesterday!  Adam said it was too cold, but I think yesterday was about perfect!

I also love going to Baton Rouge because 2 of our favorite restaurants are side by side!  I always feel bad when I eat at one because I feel like I am betraying the other.

This time we ate at Five Guys.

Yummmmmmm!

Best Weekend Ever!

This weekend was one of my favorite weekends we have had in a while.  It was very relaxed and we were able to do whatever we wanted!  It started off with a jazz concert and dinner in the park followed by a movie and ice cream at home.

Saturday we had planned on going bowling with some friends, so after going to one of our favorite restaurants for a late breakfast we went bowling!  I. Love. Bowling.

Of course I won the first game.  I was "J", and Adam was "W".  I barely got him!

**Notice that I did not post scores for the second game.  Maybe you can guess who won. ;-)

Adam wanted to join the fun, so he had a bowling ball belly.  I think mine was still bigger.
